Oxegen Line Up 2009

Oxegen 2009 returns to the world famous Punchestown Racecourse, Naas, Co Kildare from 10th-12th July 2009 the confirmed line up includes Blur, Snow Patrol, Bloc Party, The Script and Katy Perry

Snow Patrol are set to play OXEGEN on the back of their hugely successful chart topping album ‘A Hundred Million Suns. Having sold over 60,000 tickets for their forthcoming Irish dates in March, it comes as no surprise that fans voted them as one of the top acts they most wanted to see at this year’s festival. With a back catalogue including the massive anthems ‘Run’, ‘Chasing Cars’ and ‘Take Back The City’, their performance will be much anticipated.

Bloc Party are one of the most critically acclaimed bands of the decade. They forged their reputation with the spiky guitar rock of debut album ‘Silent Alarm’ and follow-up ‘A Weekend In The City’ and released their latest album, the phenomenal ‘Intimacy’, in July last year. Bloc Party are also renowned for the strength of their live shows, as anyone of the 10,000 fans who witnessed their stunning performance at Phoenix Park’s Big Top in November 2007 can testify.

It’s been a rapid rise to the top for The Script, the most successful act to emerge from Ireland in recent years. Their first singles We Cry and The Man Who Can’t Be Moved have been dominating the airwaves since their release and debut album The Script topped the Irish & UK charts. They have also just been nominated in three categories for the Meteor Ireland Music Awards 2009 including ‘Best Irish Band’. The OXEGEN crowd will no doubt give them a tremendous reception when they return as conquering heroes.

Completing today’s announcement is Katy Perry. The American singer has seldom been out of the spotlight since her feisty, flirtatious single I Kissed A Girl reached number 1 internationally, while Hot N Cold, her follow-up single, has hit number 1 in 15 countries and is currently number 1 on the pan-European singles chart. Her irreverent take on modern pop music is sure to go down a treat with the OXEGEN audience.
